According to most, a person’s twenties are known as a time to have fun and to discover one’s self, and their thirties are known to be the beginning of their mature adult life. If we are seen as wiser people, then why is turning 30 recognized as a grim turning point in one’s life? Nicknames such as “the dirty 30”, “18 plus 12 years of experience”, “straight out of my twenties”, “triple X”, “29.99 plus tax” don’t exactly set the stage that 30 is an enjoyable age. Even the decorations aren’t pleasant: “funeral for my youth”, “kissing my twenties goodbye”, “RIP twenties”, “So Happy I‘m Thirty”. With my own 30th birthday approaching, I decided to remove the stigma and go into my thirties with a bang of 30 days with new experiences and new places.
This started as a way to help myself feel better about turning 30. When I was younger, being “30 & flirty & thriving” seemed so amazing, making me eager to want to grow up. As I grew up, 30 became known as the beginning of “the end of your youth”. Even TV shows and movies give the message that you’ll be “letting go of your fun twenties lifestyle” and have your life figured out before you turn 30. Now that I’m approaching this age, I don’t have life completely figured out but I feel youthful and vibrant, maybe even more than I did in my twenties because I’m more confident and self-assured. This ignited a “spark” within me. It’s time to celebrate the approach of this “new age”.

30 new, empowering endeavors, awakening activities, unforgettable undertakings, alternative adventures during the 30 days of April for a colorful 30th celebration. It’s appropriate that Try Everything by Shakira is playing as I write this.
So whether you’re here because you’re feeling the same pressures and mixed emotions about turning 30 or searching for ideas for your next adventure, welcome! I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you!
